Mon Nov 25 10:53:06 UTC 2024: ## Chennai Super Kings Re-Sign All-Rounder Sam Curran for IPL 2025

**Chennai, India** – Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have secured the services of all-rounder Sam Curran for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. The England international, known for his exceptional batting and bowling abilities, returns to the franchise for a relatively economical price of ₹2.4 crore.

Curran, who previously played for CSK in 2020 and 2021, has a proven track record in the IPL. His versatile skills allow him to bat anywhere in the order – even opening on occasion – and he’s particularly known for his ability to swing the new ball. In his career, spanning over 250 matches, he has accumulated over 3660 runs and taken over 240 wickets. His impressive performance in 2023 saw him become the most expensive player in the auction, fetching a whopping ₹18.5 crore. However, CSK acquired him at a significantly lower price this time around.

Curran’s acquisition is considered a shrewd move by CSK, bolstering their all-rounder options alongside Ravindra Jadeja and Rachain Ravindra. The Punjab Kings (PBKS), who originally drafted Curran in 2019, considered exercising their Right to Match (RTM) card before ultimately letting him go. His initial IPL season with PBKS was challenging, but his form improved significantly after joining CSK. He has scored 883 runs and taken 58 wickets in 59 IPL matches.

Curran’s journey in the IPL has seen him move from PBKS (INR 7.2 crore in 2019 and INR 18.5 crore in 2023) to CSK (INR 5.5 crore in 2021). His return to CSK for the 2025 season is expected to greatly strengthen their team’s composition.
