Mon Nov 25 13:43:14 UTC 2024: ## Sambhal Violence: Four Deaths Confirmed by Post-Mortem, Tensions Flare After Arrest

**Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh:** The death toll in the recent Sambhal violence remains at four, with post-mortem reports confirming all victims died from gunshot wounds inflicted by country-made pistols, according to Moradabad Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar. The incident, which initially appeared to be calming down, reignited after the arrest of Shahi Jama Masjid’s Sadar Jafar Ali. Ali, who held a press conference alleging police misconduct and intimidation, was detained, leading to increased tensions and a heightened police presence, including the deployment of armored vehicles.

Earlier, police filed FIRs against Samajwadi Party MP, Ziaur Rahman Bark, and the son of MLA Nawab Iqbal Mahmood, Suhail Iqbal, for allegedly inciting the violence. Bark claimed the violence was pre-planned and part of a larger attack targeting Muslims nationwide. A total of seven FIRs have been registered, naming six individuals and over 2,500 unidentified suspects, with 25 arrests made so far. The four deceased were buried late Monday night.

As a preventative measure, internet services in Sambhal tehsil have been extended for another day, and schools remain closed. District Magistrate Rajendra Pansia has imposed a ban on the entry of outsiders into the district until December 1st. Sambhal Police have released footage of the rioters. The situation remains tense, with authorities deploying additional forces to maintain order.
