Mon Nov 25 04:54:59 UTC 2024: ## Digital Pens to Replace Attendance Registers in Lok Sabha

**New Delhi:** The Lok Sabha is going digital. Starting with the winter session commencing Monday, Members of Parliament (MPs) will use digital pens to mark their attendance. This initiative, spearheaded by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, aims to make Parliament paperless.

Instead of traditional registers, MPs will use stylus pens similar to those found with Samsung Galaxy Note series devices, to sign electronically on tablets placed at four counters in the Parliament building’s lobby. Technical assistants will be present to assist MPs. While physical attendance registers will remain for backup, MPs are encouraged to use the digital system. The process involves searching for their name on the tablet and signing with the digital pen before submitting. A team of engineers from the National Information Centre will be on hand to provide support.
