Mon Nov 25 12:20:00 UTC 2024: ## IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Nitish Rana Sold to Rajasthan Royals for ₹4.2 Crore
**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia:** The second day of the IPL 2025 mega auction concluded in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with several high-profile players going unsold. However, Nitish Rana found a new home, being purchased by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for ₹4.2 crore. This marks the end of Rana’s seven-season stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), owned by Shah Rukh Khan, who did not retain him this year.
Rana, 30, faced competition from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) before ultimately being secured by RR after a bidding war with RCB. His base price was ₹1.5 crore. While he played only two matches for KKR in the previous season, his career includes 107 IPL matches with 2636 runs and 10 wickets. He has also represented India in 2 ODIs and 1 T20I. Interestingly, in 2015, he was bought by Mumbai Indians for just ₹10 lakh.
Rana’s connection to Bollywood adds another dimension to the story; he is the son-in-law of actor Govinda. He captained KKR in some matches during IPL 2023 in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, leading the team to 6 wins out of 14.
