**New Delhi, Nov 25, 2024** – The Delhi Capitals (DC) made a significant splash on the first day of the IPL 2025 mega auction, acquiring nine players, including three overseas stars, with a massive ₹73 crore purse. Their biggest investment was a ₹14 crore bid for KL Rahul, who is expected to captain the team.
The auction saw DC significantly strengthen their bowling lineup. Key acquisitions include Mitchell Starc, T Natarajan, and Mohit Sharma, forming a formidable pace attack alongside existing spinners Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.
Prior to the auction, DC retained Axar Patel for a hefty ₹16.5 crore, Kuldeep Yadav for ₹13.25 crore, Tristan Stubbs for ₹10 crore, and uncapped player Abhishek Porel for ₹4 crore. The team released Rishabh Pant, who was subsequently picked up by the Lucknow Super Giants.
Other notable additions to the DC squad include Jack Fraser-McGarrick, Harry Brook, Ashutosh Sharma, and Samir Rizvi. The team finished sixth last season with 14 points and will be hoping for improved performance under new coach Hemang Badani.
