**Chennai, India (Nov 24, 2024)** – The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) entered the IPL 2025 mega auction with a purse of ₹55 crore and made significant acquisitions, bolstering their squad for what could be MS Dhoni’s final season. The team retained five players earlier, spending ₹65 crore, including captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja, both secured for ₹18 crore each. Other retentions included Matheesha Pathirana (₹13 crore) and Shivam Dube (₹12 crore), while MS Dhoni was retained as an uncapped player for ₹4 crore.
CSK utilized their Right to Match (RTM) card on Ruchin Ravindra. On the first day of the auction, they added seven players to their roster, including three overseas players, filling seven of their twenty available slots.
Despite winning the IPL title in 2023, CSK failed to reach the playoffs in 2024, finishing fifth in the points table with a 7-7 win-loss record under Gaikwad’s captaincy. The team management is hoping for a strong showing in 2025, aiming for a victorious send-off for their legendary captain.
