**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia –** The IPL 2025 Mega Auction concluded its second day in Jeddah with a record-breaking bid for Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant. The Lucknow Super Giants secured Pant for a staggering ₹27 crore (approximately $3.3 million USD), making him the most expensive player in IPL history. This eclipsed the previous record set just moments earlier when the Punjab Kings acquired Shreyas Iyer for ₹26.75 crore.
The auction saw a flurry of high-profile signings. Other notable purchases included Arshdeep Singh (PBKS, ₹18 crore), Jos Buttler (GT, ₹15.75 crore), Kagiso Rabada (GT, ₹10.75 crore), Mitchell Starc (DC, ₹11.75 crore), Mohammed Shami (SRH, ₹10 crore), David Miller (LSG, ₹7.50 crore), and Yuzvendra Chahal (PBKS, ₹18 crore). Mohammed Siraj went to Gujarat Titans for ₹12.25 crore, and Liam Livingstone joined Royal Challengers Bangalore for ₹8.75 crore.
A total of 493 players were up for grabs across 132 slots. Royal Challengers Bangalore entered day two with the largest purse (₹30.65 crore), while Sunrisers Hyderabad had the smallest (₹5.15 crore). The auction was broadcast live on Star Sports Network and JioCinema in India, with updates also available on Times Now Navbharat.
The auction featured a diverse range of base prices, with players listing themselves from ₹30 lakh to ₹2 crore. The first day saw a total of 73 players sold to various franchises.
