Sun Nov 24 11:53:11 UTC 2024: ## Zimbabwe and Pakistan Set for ODI Series Opener in Bulawayo

**BULAWAYO, ZIMBABWE –** Zimbabwe and Pakistan are set to clash in the first of a three-match One Day International (ODI) series at the Sir Vivian Richards Sports Club in Bulawayo on November 24th. The match marks a significant contest for both teams, coming off the back of contrasting recent form.

Zimbabwe, despite a recent 2-0 ODI series loss to Sri Lanka, are riding high after topping their group in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa Qualifier. They have also called up three uncapped players – Trevor Gwandu, Tashinga Musekiwa, and Tinotenda Maposa – and welcome back experienced batsman Sean Williams to their squad.

Pakistan, on the other hand, are looking to regain momentum following a historic 1-2 ODI series win against Australia, which was followed by a T20I series loss. Under newly appointed white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan, several key players are absent from the touring squad.

The Bulawayo pitch is expected to favour fast bowlers early, offering swing and seam movement, before becoming more batting-friendly as the game progresses. Spinners are anticipated to become more effective in the middle overs. The toss is expected to be crucial.

Pre-series analysis points to Saim Ayub (Pakistan) as a potential top batter, following his strong performance against Australia, and Haris Rauf (Pakistan) as a key bowler, given the pitch conditions. The final toss result and team selections will be revealed shortly before the match commences.
