**HARARE, ZIMBABWE** – Zimbabwe pulled off a stunning upset victory over Pakistan in a rain-affected match today, winning by 80 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method. Pakistan’s chase was hampered by persistent rain and the Zimbabwean bowling attack.

Zimbabwe, batting first, posted a modest total of 205 all out in 40.2 overs. Richard Ngarava top-scored with 48 runs, while Sikandar Raza contributed 39. Pakistan’s Faisal Akram and Salman Agha took three wickets apiece.

In reply, Pakistan’s innings never got going. The Pakistani batsmen struggled against a disciplined Zimbabwean bowling attack, with wickets falling regularly. Mohammad Rizwan (19) and Kamran Ghulam (17) were the top scorers for Pakistan, who slumped to 60/6 in 21 overs before rain forced the abandonment of play. Blessing Muzarabani and Sean Williams were the pick of the Zimbabwean bowlers, each taking two crucial wickets. The DLS method then determined Zimbabwe’s comprehensive victory.

The match was marked by frequent interruptions due to rain, creating an unpredictable atmosphere. Despite the challenging conditions, Zimbabwe’s bowlers kept Pakistan under immense pressure, culminating in a remarkable upset victory against a higher-ranked opponent. The win will undoubtedly boost Zimbabwe’s confidence.
