Sun Nov 24 09:13:21 UTC 2024: ## Congress Claims Victory in Karnataka By-elections a Rebuff to BJP’s Divisive Politics

**Mangaluru, November 24, 2024** – Congress leader and MLC B.K. Hariprasad attributed the recent electoral successes in Jharkhand and Karnataka to voters rejecting the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) divisive tactics. He highlighted the re-election of the INDIA alliance government in Jharkhand and the Congress’s win in two Karnataka by-elections, citing these as evidence of public support.

Hariprasad alleged that the BJP employed significant financial resources to influence voters in Maharashtra, where the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition fell short. In contrast, he credited the Congress’s Karnataka by-election victories to the success of its guarantee schemes and the perception of a violence-free administration under the current government. He dismissed BJP allegations of corruption, including references to the MUDA and Waqf property scams, and various investigations, as ineffective in swaying voters.

While acknowledging Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s claim of electoral invincibility, Hariprasad stated that the party must accept Siddaramaiah’s continued leadership. He also ridiculed BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra’s prediction of the Congress government’s imminent collapse.

The Congress leader further maintained that despite the BJP’s alleged use of money power, the popularity of the Congress’s guarantee schemes proved decisive in Karnataka. The press conference was attended by Dakshina Kannada district Congress president K. Harish Kumar and former MLA J.R. Lobo.
