Sun Nov 24 13:35:35 UTC 2024: ## Kohli’s Century Revives India in Perth Test

**Perth, Australia:** Virat Kohli silenced his critics with a magnificent century in the first Test against Australia, ending a long wait for his 81st international ton and his 30th in Test cricket. The innings, played on the third day of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy match, came after a first-innings duck and a near 500-day drought in Test centuries.

Kohli reached his milestone with a composed 143-ball knock, studded with eight boundaries and two sixes. His century propelled India to declare their second innings at 487/6, setting Australia a challenging 534-run target with more than two days of play remaining.

Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal anchored the innings with a stunning 161, showcasing his rising star status. KL Rahul also contributed significantly with a well-played 77. Kohli’s century, however, was the highlight, sparking wild celebrations from the Indian team and fans alike. The knock marks a significant return to form for the veteran batsman, who last scored a Test century against the West Indies in July 2023. His previous century against Australia came in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year. The declaration puts India in a strong position to win the opening match of the series.
