**Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu –** Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has called on DMK party members to intensify their preparations for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, aiming for a minimum of 200 seats. Addressing a large gathering in Thuraiyur following the unveiling of a statue of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, Stalin urged party cadres to replicate the success of the DMK alliance in previous elections. He highlighted the DMK’s complete sweep of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in 2019 as a benchmark for their ambitions.

Stalin also took the opportunity to criticize AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, dismissing his criticism of the DMK’s initiatives and questioning of Stalin’s appointment as Deputy Chief Minister. He further mocked the AIADMK’s alliance negotiations, referencing comments by AIADMK treasurer Dindigul C. Sreenivasan about alliance partners demanding money and constituencies.

The Deputy Chief Minister’s weekend tour included events across Tiruchirappalli, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, and Cuddalore districts. His engagements involved the inauguration of a Kalaignar Library, the opening of a Perambalur MP office, and the unveiling of a Karunanidhi statue in Thuraiyur.
