Sun Nov 24 15:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Iowa QB Cade McNamara Out for Maryland Game, Recovering from Concussion

**IOWA CITY, IA –** Iowa Hawkeye quarterback Cade McNamara announced on social media that he is still recovering from a concussion sustained on October 26th and will miss Saturday’s game against Maryland. While cleared for practice last Sunday, McNamara experienced an adverse reaction, forcing him to sit out practices this week.

McNamara stated he has been attending meetings and lifting weights but hasn’t participated in full practices since the setback. He clarified that he will not travel with the team to Maryland but aims to return for the season finale against Nebraska on Black Friday.

The announcement ends speculation surrounding McNamara’s status. He was initially listed as the starter for the Maryland game, but Head Coach Kirk Ferentz described the situation as “cloudy” earlier this week. Brendan Sullivan, who started in McNamara’s absence against Wisconsin, was injured in the subsequent loss to UCLA, leading walk-on Jackson Stratton to see his first game action. Stratton’s performance against UCLA included a touchdown drive. The Hawkeyes will now look to Sullivan or Stratton to lead the offense against Maryland.
