Sun Nov 24 14:23:47 UTC 2024: ## BJP Sweeps Rajasthan By-Elections, Winning 5 of 7 Seats
**Jaipur, Rajasthan** – The results of the Rajasthan Assembly by-elections, held on November 13th for seven seats, were announced today. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a resounding victory, winning five of the seven contested seats. The Indian National Congress (INC) won one seat, and the Bharatiya Adivasi Party (BAP) secured the remaining seat.
BJP wins were recorded in Khinvsar, Jhunjhunu, Salumber, Deoli-Uniara, and Ramgarh. The INC retained the Dausa seat, while the BAP held onto Chaurasi. This outcome is seen as a victory for Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and BJP state president Madan Rathore. However, the Congress party, which had hoped to win all seven seats, suffered a significant setback.
The results have significantly altered the political landscape of the Rajasthan Assembly. The loss for the RLP, which lost its only seat in Khinvsar, is particularly noteworthy. RLP leader Hanuman Beniwal, despite the defeat, vowed to continue his fight.
The Dausa by-election saw a high-profile defeat for Jagmohan Meena, brother of cabinet minister Kirodi Lal Meena, who lost to Congress candidate D.C. Bairwa. Meena’s subsequent reaction, expressed in a viral video, indicated his disappointment.
The by-election results have drawn widespread reaction. Prime Minister Narendra Modi attributed the BJP’s success to the party’s unity. Congress leader Sachin Pilot conceded defeat, while congratulating the winning Congress candidate in Dausa. Vasundhara Raje also expressed her appreciation for the BJP’s performance. Chief Minister Sharma attributed the win to the public’s faith in the BJP’s work.
Allegations of irregularities were made by some candidates, including Rajkumar Rot who accused the BJP of using government machinery to influence the outcome in Salumber. Recounting has been demanded in certain constituencies, including Dausa where 10 booths are undergoing a recount.
The by-elections also highlighted the rejection of dynastic politics, with several candidates from prominent political families losing their respective races. The BJP’s victories are attributed to various factors including public approval of the government’s performance and unity within the party.
