Sun Nov 24 01:56:03 UTC 2024: ## Mahayuti Sweeps Maharashtra, JMM Retains Power in Jharkhand

**New Delhi, [Date]** – The 2024 Assembly election results for Maharashtra and Jharkhand were announced Saturday, revealing contrasting outcomes. In Maharashtra, the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance secured a landslide victory, leaving the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) stunned. Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, successfully defended its position.

In Maharashtra, the BJP won a commanding 133 seats, while the Shiv Sena and NCP secured 57 and 41 seats respectively. The Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP) won a significantly smaller number of seats, with 20, 15, and 10 respectively. Celebrations erupted at BJP headquarters in Delhi following the win. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde attributed the victory to the “double engine” government’s development work and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their support. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar highlighted the impact of schemes like “Ladki Bahin Yojana.” BJP MP Manoj Tiwari linked the win to Prime Minister Modi’s “Ek Hai Toh Safe Hai” slogan.

However, the MVA reacted with accusations of foul play, with Congress leader Jairam Ramesh calling the results “absolutely strange” and hinting at a conspiracy. Congress leader Pawan Khera raised concerns about electoral transparency, citing the disparity between the BJP’s performance in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

In Jharkhand, the JMM-led alliance secured victory, with Chief Minister Hemant Soren thanking the people of Jharkhand for their support. While Prime Minister Modi congratulated Soren, BJP leaders expressed disappointment with the loss. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma described the Jharkhand defeat as “deeply painful,” despite the NDA’s success in Assam’s by-elections. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav expressed confidence in the INDIA bloc’s prospects in Bihar’s upcoming elections.
