Sat Nov 23 17:59:11 UTC 2024: ## Gaza Hospital Bombed, Casualties Mount Amidst Intensifying Israeli Offensive

**GAZA CITY, Palestine (October 28, 2023)** – The death toll in Gaza continues to rise sharply, with Palestinian health officials reporting at least 120 fatalities in just two days of intensified Israeli bombardment. The escalating conflict has left hospitals overwhelmed and struggling to cope with the influx of casualties.

The Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza was directly targeted during Israeli attacks, according to its director, Hussam Abu Safia. He stated that multiple strikes hit the emergency room, hospital courtyards, generators, and gates, injuring 12 staff members including doctors, nurses, and administrative personnel. The Israeli military denied targeting the hospital.

The latest attacks come amidst a worsening humanitarian crisis. Hospitals are critically low on fuel, with only approximately two days’ worth remaining. The United Nations has warned of a potential famine in northern Gaza due to the near-total blockage of aid deliveries since the renewed Israeli offensive began last month.

The Israeli ground offensive and air raids have caused widespread destruction, including damage to al-Faruq Mosque in the Nuseirat refugee camp. One residential building in Zeitoun, Gaza City, was hit overnight, resulting in at least seven deaths.

The escalating violence has claimed over 44,000 lives and injured more than 104,000 since October 7th, according to Palestinian health officials. This follows the Hamas attacks on southern Israel on October 7th, which resulted in at least 1,139 deaths and hundreds of hostages taken. The conflict shows no signs of abating, with a Hamas spokesperson reporting the death of one female Israeli captive in Israeli-controlled territory, while another remains at risk. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin urged Israel to address the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza during a call with his Israeli counterpart.
