HYDERABAD, INDIA – The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have acquired Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami for ₹10 crore (approximately $1.2 million USD) in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The team engaged in a bidding war with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Shami’s services. Gujarat Titans held an Right to Match (RTM) card for Shami but ultimately chose not to use it.

Despite recent injury setbacks following the World Cup, Shami’s acquisition is seen as a positive move by sports analysts. The auction also saw significant spending on other players, including Rishabh Pant (₹27 crore to Lucknow), Shreyas Iyer (₹26.75 crore), and Arshdeep Singh (₹18 crore).
