Sun Nov 24 04:34:14 UTC 2024: ## Mahayuti Alliance Sweeps Maharashtra Assembly Elections
**Mumbai, November 24, 2024** – The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance secured a landslide victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, winning 233 out of 288 seats, according to final results released by the Election Commission. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance won only 50 seats.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde declared the results “historic,” asserting that the outcome decisively settled the question of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena’s political allegiances. He and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar held a joint press conference, assuring a smooth government formation process within three days. Winning MLAs have been instructed to assemble in Mumbai immediately.
Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis attributed the victory to the rejection of “appeasement politics” by the electorate, highlighting the success of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Hai toh Safe Hai” (Unity is Safety) message. The alliance also saw the election of 21 women MLAs, with the BJP alone electing 14, including 10 who were re-elected.
The Mahayuti’s decisive win marks a continuation of their power in the state.
