**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia –** The highly anticipated IPL Mega Auction 2025 commenced today in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with a record-breaking opening bid. A total of 577 players, including several high-profile stars, are vying for spots on the ten franchise teams.

The auction, spread over two days, saw immediate excitement with Arshdeep Singh’s sale to Punjab Kings for a staggering INR 18 crore, after a tense bidding war that included SunRisers Hyderabad exercising their Right to Match option. His base price was INR 2 crore.

Other notable players attracting significant attention include Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Shami, and Yuzvendra Chahal, whose bidding is expected to set new records. The auction organizers anticipate a potential record-breaking bid exceeding INR 25 crore for one player.

The first day of the auction focused on a limited number of players, reportedly only 84 out of the total 577. The remaining players will be auctioned tomorrow. Each franchise must acquire a minimum of 18 players and can have a maximum of 25.

The auction added three more players to the list: England bowler Jofra Archer, American seamer Saurabh Netravalkar, and Mumbai wicketkeeper Hardik Tamore. This brought the total number of players to 577.
