JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA – The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction will be held on November 24th and 25th at the Abbadi Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. A total of 577 players will go under the hammer, with teams vying for 204 spots. This follows the retention of 46 players by the 10 franchises prior to the auction.
The auction features a diverse pool of 367 Indian and 210 overseas players, although only 70 overseas players can be selected. High-profile players such as Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer are among the notable names available. Punjab Kings enters the auction with the largest purse at ₹110.5 crore, while Rajasthan Royals face a significant challenge with only ₹44 crore.
The auction will be streamed live on JioCinema, with television coverage on Star Sports Network. The auction will start at 3:30 PM IST.
The auction list includes three noteworthy additions: Jofra Archer (England), Saurabh Netravalkar (USA), and Hardhik Tamore (Mumbai). Four players from associate nations have also been included, including two former India U-19 World Cup players, Unmukt Chand and Saurabh Netravalkar, as well as Ali Khan and Brandon McMullen.
The auction format will see 84 players bid on in 12 sets on the first day, with marquee players being auctioned early. The schedule includes breaks for lunch and between capped and uncapped player auctions.
Among the youngest players participating is 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who made his Ranji debut at age 12 and recently played for India U-19. He is known for scoring a century off 58 balls in a four-day match against Australia in Chennai.
Two marquee lists, M1 and M2, feature prominent players including Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Jos Buttler, Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Mitchell Starc (M1), and KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Liam Livingstone, David Miller, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj (M2). The auction promises to be a thrilling event, with the potential for record-breaking bids. The purse amounts for each franchise are as follows: CSK: ₹55 crore, DC: ₹73 crore, KKR: ₹51 crore, RCB: ₹83 crore, RR: ₹41 crore, LSG: ₹69 crore, MI: ₹45 crore, SRH: ₹45 crore, GT: ₹69 crore, and PBKS: ₹110.5 crore.
