**JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA** – The Indian Premier League (IPL) will hold its highly anticipated 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24th and 25th. This two-day event will see 577 players, including high-profile stars like Rishabh Pant, Mitchell Starc, KL Rahul, and Jos Buttler, go under the hammer as teams rebuild their rosters for the upcoming season.
The auction, held at the Abady Al Johar Arena (capacity 15,000), will begin at 3:30 PM IST each day. A total of 367 Indian and 210 overseas players will be available, a significantly narrowed down selection from the initial 1,574 registrations.
Each franchise will have a maximum purse of ₹120 crore (approximately $14.5 million USD), but starting budgets vary significantly. Punjab Kings hold the largest purse at ₹110.5 crore, while Rajasthan Royals have the least at ₹41 crore.
This year’s auction introduces a twist to the Right to Match (RTM) rule. While franchises can still buy back a previously retained player at the price they were sold for, the team that initially won the bid will have a final chance to increase their offer. The original team then must match the increased bid to retain the player.
The auction will be broadcast live on Star Sports Network and streamed on JioCinema. With a significant number of top players available and a new twist on the RTM rule, the IPL 2025 mega auction promises to be a thrilling spectacle.
