Sun Nov 24 14:22:54 UTC 2024: ## IPL 2025 Mega Auction Set for Jeddah: Star Players Up for Grabs

**JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA** – The Indian Premier League (IPL) will hold its highly anticipated 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24th and 25th. This two-day event, occurring every three years, will see a complete roster overhaul for all ten franchises.

A total of 577 players – 367 Indian and 210 overseas – will go under the hammer at the Abady Al Johar Arena, a 15,000-capacity venue. This is a significantly reduced number from the initial 1,574 registrations. High-profile players like Rishabh Pant, Mitchell Starc, KL Rahul, and Jos Buttler are among those expected to generate intense bidding wars.

The auction will begin at 3:30 PM IST on both days and will be broadcast live on Star Sports Network and streamed on JioCinema.

Each franchise enters the auction with a varying purse, totaling Rs 120 crore but reduced after the retention phase. Punjab Kings boasts the largest remaining purse at Rs 110.5 crore, while Rajasthan Royals has the smallest at Rs 41 crore. Each team must secure at least 18 players by the auction’s conclusion.

This year’s auction features a twist on the Right to Match (RTM) rule. While former franchises retain the right to buy back a player at the winning bid price, the original winning team will receive one final opportunity to increase their bid. The former franchise must then match this increased amount to successfully retain the player.

The IPL 2025 mega auction promises excitement and intrigue, setting the stage for a fiercely competitive season.
