**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia** – The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction is set to begin Sunday at 3:00 PM IST at the Abady Al-Johar Arena in Jeddah. A total of 577 cricketers – 367 Indian and 210 overseas – will be vying for spots on 10 team rosters. The auction, broadcast live on JioCinema and various Star Sports channels, promises high-stakes bidding with a maximum of 204 players (including 70 overseas) to be selected.
Punjab Kings enter the auction with the largest war chest, boasting ₹110.5 crore and 23 vacant slots after retaining only two uncapped players. In contrast, Rajasthan Royals, the inaugural IPL champions, have the smallest purse at ₹41 crore, having utilized all their retention and Right-to-Match (RTM) options. Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders, despite also using all their retentions, have a significantly larger purse of ₹51 crore.
The auction will feature 12 marquee players, including Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer, all listed at the highest reserve price of ₹2 crore. A total of 81 players are listed at this top reserve price. Unsold players will have a chance to re-enter the auction in accelerated rounds. The auction is expected to be highly competitive, with teams looking to build their squads for the upcoming season.
