Sun Nov 24 11:30:34 UTC 2024: ## IPL 2025 Mega Auction Set for November in Saudi Arabia
**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia** – The Indian Premier League (IPL) will hold its mega auction on November 24th and 25th, 2024, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This marks the first time the event will be held outside of India. The two-day auction, held every three years, will see a complete roster rebuild for all ten franchises.
A total of 577 players, including 367 Indians and 210 overseas players, will be up for grabs. This is a subset of the initial 1,574 players who registered. Star players like Rishabh Pant, Mitchell Starc, KL Rahul, and Jos Buttler are among those expected to draw significant bidding interest. Each franchise must have at least 18 players on their roster by the auction’s end.
The auction will take place at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, starting at 3:30 PM IST on both days. It will be broadcast live on Star Sports Network and streamed on JioCinema.
Franchises enter the auction with varying budgets. Punjab Kings has the largest purse at ₹110.5 crore, while Rajasthan Royals has the smallest at ₹41 crore. The total budget for each franchise is ₹120 crore.
A significant change this year involves the Right to Match (RTM) card. While teams can still use this to retain former players, a new rule allows the winning bidder to make a final, increased offer before the former team’s RTM is finalized. This adds a layer of strategic complexity to the bidding process. For example, if a team uses its RTM, the winning team can increase their bid, forcing the team using the RTM to match the higher amount to retain the player.
The IPL 2025 mega auction promises to be a high-stakes event with significant implications for the upcoming season.
