Sun Nov 24 14:33:55 UTC 2024: ## JD(S) Leader G.T. Deve Gowda Accuses Kumaraswamy of Ill-Treatment, Hints at Possible Congress Switch

**Mysuru, November 24, 2024** – Following the JD(S) party’s recent by-election defeat in Channapatna, senior leader and former Minister G.T. Deve Gowda has publicly accused Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy of mistreating him and insulting his contributions to the party. In interviews with local television channels, Gowda, who also heads the JD(S) core committee, claimed Kumaraswamy repeatedly attempted to remove him from the party, only to be thwarted by party president H.D. Deve Gowda.

Gowda admitted to being upset over his exclusion from the position of party floor leader in the Legislative Assembly, a post he had hoped to obtain after his work mobilizing party cadres. He further criticized Kumaraswamy’s leadership style, alleging that decisions are made solely within the family and endorsed by H.D. Deve Gowda without input from other party leaders. He questioned the selection of Nikhil Kumaraswamy for the Channapatna by-election, given the subsequent loss.

While denying direct contact with the Congress, Gowda indicated that his supporters in Chamundeshwari constituency will ultimately decide whether he joins the Congress party. His statement follows his claim that he wasn’t invited to campaign in Channapatna. The situation underscores growing internal tensions within the JD(S) following their electoral setback.
