**Dębica, Poland** – The Polish women’s U16 volleyball team secured a hard-fought victory over Lithuania in the final of the Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA) U16 Championship, earning them a coveted spot in the upcoming European Championships. The Polish team, coached by Maciej Dobrowolski, dominated the tournament, winning all their matches en route to the final.
After sweeping victories against Georgia and Latvia in earlier rounds, Poland faced a strong Lithuanian team in the final. While Lithuania put up a strong defense and launched effective counter-attacks in the first set, Poland’s strategic play and powerful serves, particularly from Aleksandra Wika and Zuzanna Lange, ultimately secured the first set 25-19. The Polish team’s strong performance continued in the second set, resulting in a 25-13 win.
The third set proved to be the most challenging. Lithuania fought back fiercely, keeping the score close until the mid-point. While Poland maintained its composure and ultimately won 25-22 after a thrilling back-and-forth exchange. Aleksandra Wika was named the MVP of the final match, contributing 21 points and boasting a 71% attack success rate.
Prior to the final, Estonia defeated Georgia for 5th place, and Ukraine won the bronze medal against Latvia in a 3-0 sweep.
