Sun Nov 24 06:54:39 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Capitals Release Captain Rishabh Pant Ahead of IPL Mega Auction

**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia:** All ten teams have released their retained player lists ahead of the upcoming IPL mega auction, scheduled for November 24th and 25th in Jeddah. A significant development is the Delhi Capitals’ decision to not retain their captain, Rishabh Pant. While reports suggest financial disagreements led to the separation, Pant himself has denied this on social media.

The auction will feature a total purse of ₹641 crore (approximately $77 million USD), with each team allowed a maximum of 25 players, including a maximum of eight overseas players. With 46 players already retained across all teams, 204 slots remain to be filled. Punjab Kings enter the auction with the largest purse remaining, at ₹110.5 crore.

Delhi Capitals have retained four players: Axar Patel (₹16.5 crore), Kuldeep Yadav (₹13.5 crore), Tristan Stubbs (₹10 crore), and Abhishek Porel (₹4 crore). Despite releasing Pant, there’s speculation that the Delhi Capitals may attempt to re-acquire him during the auction. Former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar suggested that a difference of opinion regarding Pant’s retention fee may have played a role in the decision.

The mega auction is expected to break several records given the substantial funds available and the high-profile players available.
