**Luque, Paraguay –** Hours before the highly anticipated Copa Sudamericana final between Cruzeiro and Racing, hundreds of fans are facing a ticketing nightmare. On Friday, the CONMEBOL unilaterally canceled numerous tickets citing “security concerns,” leaving fans stranded and scrambling for solutions.

The cancellation notice, delivered via email, lacked detail and directed fans to a website for refunds. However, the provided address proved incorrect, sending frustrated fans on a wild goose chase to a location 30 minutes from the Estádio General Pablo Rojas, the match venue. The deadline for ticket resolution was set at 1 PM local time.

Both Cruzeiro and Racing supporters are affected, with some Argentinian fans confirming they purchased tickets directly from the official site. While some Cruzeiro fans managed to obtain replacements – either online, or in person at the CONMEBOL headquarters in Luque – many others reported receiving negative responses to their refund requests.

At the stadium, a temporary ticket exchange booth is operating, allowing fans with cancelled tickets to purchase replacements using international credit cards. However, refunds for the original tickets could take up to three days.

The situation has left many fans deeply frustrated, with some threatening legal action. One Cruzeiro fan, Luiz Eduardo, lamented the lack of support and communication from the club, highlighting the communication difficulties faced by fans traveling from abroad.

CONMEBOL, through Cruzeiro, maintains the cancellations were for security reasons, and is investigating reports of improper ticket sales as well as potential internal errors leading to the cancellation of legitimate purchases.
