**Aurangabad, Maharashtra –** The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance secured a decisive victory in the Aurangabad district in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, winning all eight constituencies. The results, declared today, reflect a significant shift in the state’s political landscape following a series of party splits and realignments in recent years.
The election saw a contest between the BJP-led Mahayuti (which includes a faction of the Shiv Sena), and the opposition, including the remaining Shiv Sena faction (UBT) and the NCP (split into two factions). The outcome underscores the Mahayuti’s strong appeal among Aurangabad voters.
Key victories for the BJP included Anuradha Atul Chavan in Phulambri and Atul Moreshwar Save in Aurangabad East, who defeated their rivals by substantial margins. The Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) also performed well, winning seats in Sillod (Abdul Sattar), Paithan (Bhumre Vilas Sandipanrao), Vaijapur (Bornare Ramesh Nanasaheb), Aurangabad Central (Jaiswal Pradeep Shivnarayan) and Aurangabad West (Sanjay Pandurang Shirsat). The BJP secured the Gangapur seat with Bumb Prashant Bansilal’s win.
Across the state, initial reports indicate a substantial lead for the BJP-led Mahayuti, exceeding projections. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed gratitude for the alliance’s success, attributing it to the support of the BJP’s national leadership. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also offered congratulations.
The results in Aurangabad, mirroring the statewide trend, highlight the electorate’s response to the recent political realignments in the state. The final seat counts across Maharashtra will confirm the extent of the Mahayuti’s victory.
