**Alappuzha, Kerala –** Over 3,000 volunteers participated in a major clean-up initiative along a five-kilometer stretch of the AS Canal in Cherthala, Kerala on Sunday. The event, part of the “Save AS Canal” and “Chelotha Cherthala” projects, was inaugurated by Agriculture Minister P. Prasad and included participation from former MP A.M. Ariff, local officials, and representatives from various political and youth organizations.

Minister Prasad emphasized the importance of preventing canals and ponds from becoming dumping grounds, highlighting the serious health risks and negative impact on tourism associated with water pollution. The clean-up drive extended from P.S. Kavala to Kuriyumuttam Kayal within the Cherthala municipality limits. The event was presided over by Cherthala municipal chairperson Sherly Bharghavan.
