Sat Nov 23 21:43:25 UTC 2024: ## Bigg Boss Star’s Political Debut Ends in Disastrous Defeat
**Mumbai, India** – Ajaz Khan, the reality TV star known for his appearance on Bigg Boss, suffered a crushing defeat in his first attempt at state-level politics. Khan, contesting the Versova constituency in the Maharashtra Assembly elections as a candidate for Chandrashekhar Azad’s Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram), received a mere 155 votes. This dismal performance is a stark contrast to his significant social media presence, boasting 5.6 million Instagram followers. Even the “None of the Above” (NOTA) option garnered significantly more votes, with 1,298 voters opting for it.
The seat was ultimately won by Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Haroon Khan with 65,396 votes. The BJP’s Dr Bharati Lavekar lost by a narrow margin of 1,600 votes to the SHSUBT candidate.
Khan’s poor showing has become a subject of widespread online ridicule. Social media users highlighted the irony of his substantial online following failing to translate into electoral support.
Meanwhile, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is projected to retain power in Maharashtra, having secured 52 seats and leading in 173 others. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has won eight seats and is leading in 42. Other parties, including AIMIM and Samajwadi Party, have secured or are leading in a handful of seats.
Maharashtra’s assembly elections, held on November 20th, saw a voter turnout of 66.05%, exceeding the 2019 figure.
