Sun Nov 24 18:00:00 UTC 2024: **Five-Star QB Julian Lewis Commits to Colorado, Boosting Buffs’ Recruiting Class**

Boulder, CO – In a major recruiting coup for the University of Colorado Buffaloes, five-star quarterback Julian Lewis announced his commitment to the program Thursday. The No. 2 recruit in the ESPN 300 for the 2025 class, Lewis made his decision public on The Pat McAfee Show, choosing Colorado just four days after decommitting from USC.

Lewis, a 6-foot-1 passer from Carrollton, Georgia, is considered a transformational prospect for the Buffs. He will sign with Colorado during the early signing period on December 4th and plans to enroll early in January. “I’m excited for the opportunity to get to work and compete,” Lewis told ESPN. “Colorado wasn’t recruiting me until I reclassed, so it really was perfect timing.”

The commitment marks a significant victory for head coach Deion Sanders, who has rapidly reshaped the Colorado program since his arrival. Lewis is the fourth top-25 recruit to commit to Colorado in the ESPN 300 era, and the highest-ranked since Sanders took over. His addition comes at a crucial time, with current Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders (Deion’s son) expected to enter the NFL draft.

Lewis’s decision follows an official visit to Colorado in June and another trip for their October 26th victory over Cincinnati. He was also reportedly considering Georgia and Indiana. His commitment could trigger a late-cycle recruiting surge for the Buffs, who are already vying for several other top prospects.

Colorado’s on-field success this season, with an 8-2 record and a chance to compete in the Big 12 Championship game, undoubtedly played a role in Lewis’s decision. The Buffs are currently ranked No. 16 in the College Football Playoff rankings. Lewis’s commitment is considered the highest-ranked addition to the Colorado program since 2008.
