Sun Nov 24 05:34:21 UTC 2024: ## IPL 2025 Auction to Use ‘Accelerated Auction’ Format
**Mumbai, India** – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a new, faster auction format for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. The auction, scheduled for December 24th and 25th in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will feature 574 players. To streamline the process, the BCCI will implement an “Accelerated Auction.”
Initially, franchises will bid only on the top 116 players, categorized by playing status (international players, specialists, etc.), ensuring a quicker initial phase. Following the first day, franchises will have until 10 PM to submit a list of players from the remaining 458 (numbers 117-574) they wish to consider. These players will then be included in a second phase, significantly reducing the overall auction time. Andhra cricketer Ricky Bhui is listed as player number 117. Other notable uncapped players include Moeen Ali, Tim David, and Umran Malik. The auction will be conducted by Mallika Sagar.
The auction’s scheduling has been carefully planned to avoid conflict with the ongoing Perth Test between India and Australia. The Test match will conclude at 2:50 PM IST, allowing ample time before the auction commences at 3:30 PM IST.
