**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia:** The much-anticipated IPL 2024 mega auction will take place in Jeddah on December 17th and 18th, the IPL governing body announced. The tournament itself will run from March 14th to May 25th.

All ten franchises have already submitted their lists of retained players, with a maximum of six players allowed per team. While most teams retained five players (Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat Titans), the retention numbers varied, with Punjab Kings retaining two, Royal Challengers Bangalore three, Delhi Capitals four, and Rajasthan Royals six.

The initial mega auction list comprised 574 players (366 Indian and 208 overseas). With 10 teams needing to fill a total of 204 slots (70 for overseas players), the IPL has added three more players to the list, bringing the total to 577. The newly added players are Jofra Archer (England), Nathravalkar (USA), and Indian domestic player Hardik Thamoor.
