Sun Nov 24 00:55:12 UTC 2024: **Jharkhand Election Counting: JMM Candidate Camps Outside Counting Center Despite Tight Security**

Khunti, Jharkhand (November 22, 2024) – As Jharkhand awaits the counting of votes for the 2024 Assembly elections, anxieties are high among candidates. While the administration has implemented a three-tiered security system, including CISF personnel, and 24/7 CCTV surveillance at the strong room in Birsa College, Khunti district, concerns remain.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Ram Surya Munda has set up a tent outside the counting center, spending nights there and overseeing security. Though he claims this is a precautionary measure following party instructions and a practice from past elections, and acknowledges the existing robust security, his actions highlight a lack of complete confidence in the official arrangements.

The counting process is scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM on Saturday. EVMs, under heavy guard, will be moved from the strong room to the counting tables at 7:00 AM, with preliminary trends expected by 12:00 PM. District officials, including DC Lokesh Mishra and SP Aman Kumar, have been conducting regular visits to the strong room throughout the day. Representatives from various political parties are also maintaining a presence outside counting centers, some similarly setting up tents.
