**Mumbai, [Date]** – Aaditya Thackeray, former Maharashtra Cabinet Minister and leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), has secured victory in the high-profile Worli Assembly constituency, defeating Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. Thackeray won by a margin of 8,801 votes, receiving 63,324 votes to Deora’s 54,523.

The win marks Thackeray’s second term representing Worli, though his margin of victory was significantly smaller than his 89,248-vote win in 2019. The election was a three-cornered contest, also including Sandip Deshpande of Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. Thackeray’s campaign highlighted local development projects, including the Worli-Sewri link, and his COVID-19 response efforts, while Deora emphasized his family’s long-standing ties to the constituency. Deora, formerly with the Congress, joined the Shinde faction before the recent Lok Sabha elections.

Despite Thackeray’s individual success, early trends suggest his Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, comprising the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction), NCP, and Congress, is trailing the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance in the overall state election. NDTV’s Poll-of-Polls projects 155 seats for the Mahayuti, 120 for the MVA, and 13 for others. A simple majority in the 288-seat assembly requires 145 seats. The final results are still pending.
