**Dindigul, Tamil Nadu – November 23, 2024** – A special police team investigated A.R. Dairy Private Limited in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday in connection with allegations of adulterated ghee used in the production of Tirupati laddus. The investigation follows a complaint filed two months ago by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which alleged that ghee supplied by the dairy contained animal fat.

The team, comprising 11 officers, including some from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, questioned employees about the dairy’s manufacturing processes and ingredient sourcing. A.R. Dairy employees previously denied supplying adulterated ghee, stating they met TTD standards and that their contract was suspended after July for unknown reasons.

The TTD confirmed that ghee for laddu production comes from approved suppliers and that disputed samples were sent to a Mumbai laboratory for analysis. The investigation is ongoing. The allegations follow earlier claims by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in September that the previous state government used substandard ingredients and animal fat in the laddus, prompting the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate.
