**Vikarabad, Telangana – November 23, 2024** – Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the Anantagiri Urban Forest Park in Vikarabad Rural Mandal, announcing a ₹300 crore investment to develop the area into an eco-tourism hub. The project aims to create significant employment opportunities for local residents while preserving the environment.
Mr. Kumar stated that he is reviewing proposals from two foreign companies for the project’s development and is committed to ensuring environmental protection. He highlighted the government’s dedication to sustainable development, citing the relocation of a proposed medical college from Anantagiri Hill to protect the area’s natural beauty. The Speaker also inaugurated a new Forest Section Officer’s office, built at a cost of ₹25 lakh.
Addressing concerns about debt inherited from the previous government, Mr. Kumar acknowledged challenges to progress but defended the government’s crop loan waiver program, stating that ₹18,000 crore of the allocated ₹31,000 crore has already been disbursed. He criticized the Opposition for spreading misinformation regarding the program.
The event was attended by District Collector Prateek Jain, Assistant Collector Uma Harathi, Chief Conservator of Forests Priyanka Varghese, and other officials. Mr. Kumar praised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s leadership in driving Telangana’s development.
