**Tiruchi, November 23, 2024** – Special grama sabha meetings were held across Tiruchi district on Saturday to commemorate Local Bodies Day. Hundreds of villages participated in the initiative, focusing on crucial local issues.
In Mannachanallur panchayat union, Collector M. Pradeep Kumar attended a meeting in Thiruvellarai, where discussions centered on village administration, fund management, account audits, water supply, sanitation, Self Help Group activities, and the implementation of schemes like MGNREGA and Jal Jeevan Mission. Kumar encouraged residents to familiarize themselves with available government benefits. According to S. Gangadharini, Project Officer of the District Rural Development Agency, grama sabha meetings were conducted in 404 villages across the district.
Similar meetings took place elsewhere in the district. Collector M. Thangavel participated in a meeting at Kumarapalayam, urging residents to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness. In another event, Collector P. Rathinasamy attended a grama sabha meeting in Guruvalappar Temple village. A total of 201 village panchayats participated in the district-wide initiative. The meetings provided a platform for community engagement and addressed key concerns at the local level.
