**Kerala, India** – Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has secured a landslide victory in the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election, exceeding even her brother Rahul Gandhi’s previous record-breaking win in the constituency. In her debut electoral contest, Ms. Gandhi garnered a massive majority, reportedly exceeding 3.65 lakh votes, a significant margin over her nearest rival, BJP candidate Navya Haridas, whose deposit was forfeited. She also defeated CPM candidate Satyan Mokeri.

The win is a significant boost for the Congress party and marks a remarkable entry into active politics for Ms. Gandhi. Her victory surpasses her brother’s 2019 win, where he secured a majority of approximately 4 lakh votes. While final results are pending, preliminary counts indicate an unprecedented level of support for Ms. Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi previously held the Wayanad seat, but vacated it following his disqualification from Parliament earlier this year. Her husband, Robert Vadra, expressed his gratitude to the people of Wayanad for their overwhelming support. He stated that Priyanka’s focus now shifts to serving the nation’s interests in Parliament.

The by-election results come amidst other significant political events across India, including the recent state assembly election results in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
