**ALAPPUZHA, November 24, 2024** – Over 5,000 volunteers will participate in a major community clean-up of the AS Canal in Cherthala on Sunday, as part of the ‘Save AS Canal’ initiative. The initiative, spearheaded by the Cherthala municipality under its ‘Chelotha Cherthala’ project, aims to clean a five-kilometer stretch of the canal from P.S. Kavala to Kuriyumuttam Kayal.
The clean-up drive, which begins at 7 a.m., will be inaugurated by Agriculture Minister P. Prasad. Volunteers will be stationed at 50 points along both sides of the canal, with 100 volunteers assigned to each location.
