**Mumbai, [Date]:** The upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections will witness a rematch in the crucial Malad West constituency. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has once again nominated Aslam Shaikh, who previously won in 2014 and 2019, while the Maha Yuti alliance has fielded Vinod Shelar. This will be Shelar’s first foray into the Assembly elections; he is the brother of BJP leader Ashish Shelar.

Shaikh garnered 79,494 votes while Thakur received 69,092. The contest promises to be a close and exciting one, given Shaikh’s incumbency and Shelar’s strong backing from the Maha Yuti.
