Sawant garnered 47,381 votes, edging out incumbent MLA Sada Sarvankar of the ruling Shiv Sena who received 46,437 votes.
Amit Thackeray, son of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, made his electoral debut in this constituency but failed to secure a win, losing by a margin of 15,770 votes with a total of 31,611 votes.
