Sat Nov 23 12:36:09 UTC 2024: ## AIMIM Holds Ground in Close Maharashtra Election Contests
**Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra –** Despite a sweeping victory for the Mahayuti alliance in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is putting up a strong fight in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. As of late afternoon on November 23rd, close contests are underway in two key Aurangabad seats.
Former AIMIM Lok Sabha MP Imtiaz Jaleel is locked in a tight race against BJP’s Atul Save in Aurangabad East. In Aurangabad Central, Naseruddin Siddiqui (AIMIM) is currently leading against Shiv Sena’s Pradip Jaiswal. The lead has shifted between Jaleel and Save throughout the counting process, with four rounds remaining in Aurangabad East and seven in Aurangabad Central.
While the district’s name was recently changed, the assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies still retain the Aurangabad nomenclature. The results highlight the AIMIM’s resilience in the face of the broader electoral trend.
