Sat Nov 23 15:28:40 UTC 2024: ## Shiv Sena (UBT) Reclaims Bandra East in Maharashtra Assembly Elections

**Mumbai, November 23, 2024** – Varun Sardesai of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) has won the Bandra East Assembly constituency, defeating incumbent MLA Zeeshan Siddique of the Ajit Pawar-led NCP by a margin of 11,365 votes. The results, announced Saturday, mark a significant victory for the Shiv Sena (UBT), reclaiming a seat they lost in 2019.

The Bandra East contest garnered significant attention following the tragic murder of Zeeshan Siddique’s father, Baba Siddique, last month. Siddique, who joined the NCP shortly after his father’s death, conceded defeat on social media, expressing his gratitude to his supporters and vowing to continue working for the constituency’s development.

The seat holds particular importance for the Shiv Sena (UBT) as Matoshree, the Thackeray family residence, is located within Bandra East. The party, which had won the constituency in 2009 and 2014, intensified its campaign efforts following the Lok Sabha elections, deploying key strategist Anil Parab to secure Sardesai’s victory. Sardesai’s win is also viewed as a personal triumph for Aaditya Thackeray, his cousin.

Bandra East’s diverse electorate, encompassing various socio-economic groups and communities, played a key role in the election’s outcome. The results signify a shift in the political landscape of this crucial Mumbai constituency.
