Sat Nov 23 13:22:07 UTC 2024: ## BJP’s Ramveer Singh Wins Kundarki By-Election by Landslide Victory
**Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh:** The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, Ramveer Singh, has secured a resounding victory in the Kundarki assembly by-election, defeating Samajwadi Party’s (SP) Mohammad Rizwan by a massive margin. After 36 rounds of counting, Singh garnered over 170,303 votes, while Rizwan received approximately 25,561 votes, resulting in a winning margin of over 144,742 votes. Various reports throughout the counting process consistently showed Singh maintaining a significant lead over Rizwan, with his advantage growing steadily.
Other candidates, including Chand Babu (Aazad Samaj Party) and Mohammad Waris (AIMIM), received considerably fewer votes.
The victory marks a significant win for the BJP, especially considering that the SP candidate was initially perceived to be strong in the constituency. However, SP MP, Jiyaur Rehman Bark, alleged serious irregularities in the election process, claiming that the SP would have won by a large margin had the election been fair. Bark accused the police and administration of exerting pressure, influencing ration dealers and village heads, and creating a disruptive atmosphere in the days leading up to the election. He also alleged instances of discriminatory voting practices. These allegations are yet to be investigated. The BJP, however, celebrates a decisive win in the keenly contested by-election.
