Sat Nov 23 14:23:19 UTC 2024: ## Jharkhand’s Ruling Coalition Takes Lead in Assembly Elections

**Ranchi, [Date]** – In a stunning turnaround, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s JMM-led INDIA bloc has surged ahead in the state assembly elections, currently leading in over 50 of the 81 seats. This marks a dramatic shift from the initial vote counts, which showed the BJP-led NDA coalition with a significant advantage. The NDA is now leading in 26 seats.

Vote counting began at 8 am today and is expected to conclude shortly. The JMM contested 41 seats, while its allies, the Congress (30), RJD (6), and CPI(ML) (4), contested the remaining seats. The BJP fielded candidates in 68 seats, with allies AJSU (10), JD(U) (2), and LJP (Ram Vilas) (1) also participating.

This unexpected shift in momentum puts the JMM-led coalition on track for a potential victory, despite the initial predictions favoring the NDA. The results are being closely watched across India, alongside the simultaneous counting of votes for Maharashtra assembly elections and by-elections in 14 states, including a crucial bypoll in Wayanad, Kerala, where Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is contesting.
