**Puducherry, November 23, 2024** – The Directorate of School Education in Puducherry has issued mandatory guidelines for all schools to establish committees dedicated to the protection of children under the POCSO (Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, 2021. These committees, to be formed at both school and district levels, will include teachers, parents, NGO representatives, and students.
The guidelines mandate the installation of “Bravo Boxes,” secure platforms allowing students to confidentially report concerns or complaints. The committees will be responsible for addressing complaints, conducting awareness programs, and ensuring a child-friendly environment within schools. Monthly reports will be submitted to the Directorate.
Inspecting officers will monitor the implementation of these guidelines, with non-compliance facing serious consequences. The initiative aims to create safer schools for children across the Union Territory.
