Sat Nov 23 12:21:55 UTC 2024: ## Fadnavis Wins Resoundingly in Nagpur South West, BJP’s Mahayuti Projected to Win Again

**Nagpur, Maharashtra –** Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has secured a comfortable victory in the Nagpur South West constituency, extending his lead to over 38,000 votes as of the latest count. The BJP leader, a prominent figure in Maharashtra politics, has garnered over 1.27 lakh votes, significantly ahead of his Congress rival Prafulla Gudadhe, who received over 88,000.

Fadnavis’s victory continues a long-standing trend. Nagpur South West, a constituency he has held since its inception in 2009, has consistently favored him with large margins. His win this year follows previous victories in 2014 (nearly 60,000 vote margin) and 2019 (nearly 50,000 vote margin). Nagpur, home to the RSS, has been a BJP stronghold since 2014.

Following the projected victory of the Mahayuti alliance (BJP-Shinde Sena-Ajit Pawar faction of NCP), Fadnavis attributed the win to the alliance’s unity, referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan “Ek hain toh safe hain” (United we are safe). He emphasized that the win represented a victory for the entire Mahayuti, including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. He also stated that the decision regarding the next Chief Minister will be made after consultation with all alliance leaders, under the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, ensuring there would be no dispute.

Fadnavis, who previously served as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister (2014-2019), played a pivotal role in the 2022 alliance that brought down the Uddhav Thackeray government. He opted to serve as Deputy Chief Minister under Eknath Shinde. Today’s results also mark the conclusion of counting for Maharashtra’s assembly elections, along with Jharkhand’s, and by-elections across 15 states.
