**Mumbai, [Date]** – The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition suffered a crushing defeat in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, with the Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP and Shiv Sena, poised to form the government. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh attributed the MVA’s poor performance to a deliberate attempt to undermine the party, alleging a “conspiracy” to ensure their defeat. He stated that the level playing field was “disrupted in a targeted way.”
Despite the overall loss, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar secured a resounding victory in the Baramati Assembly constituency, defeating his nephew Yugendra Pawar by a substantial margin of over 1.16 lakh votes. Celebrations erupted among NCP workers following the results. In contrast, Bigg Boss contestant Abhijeet Bichukale, who ran as an independent candidate in Baramati, received a mere 86 votes.
Ajit Pawar’s wife, Sunetra Pawar, expressed gratitude to the people of Baramati for their support, while hinting at public desire for Ajit Pawar to become Chief Minister. The Mahayuti alliance is projected to secure a comfortable majority with over 217 seats. The BJP and Shiv Sena are expected to dominate the alliance with 124 and 56 seats respectively, while the NCP is projected to win approximately 37 seats.
